Gill Clarke Bursaries

Independent Dance and Siobhan Davies Dance are pleased to be offering a bursary to support students on the jointly delivered MA/MFA Creative Practice: Dance Professional Practice Pathway, offered by Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.  

The bursaries are Leverhulme Arts Scholarships Awards, and are named in memory of Independent Dance co-director Gill Clarke who designed the MA course, and who passed away in November 2011.

Three to five substantial bursaries of between 5k-8k will be offered annually from 2019/20 to 2021/22, to support students on the Dance Professional Practice pathway of the MA/MFA Creative Practice. Applicants must be accepted onto the course and must be able to demonstrate their professional potential; recipients are decided by a panel.

To be successful, the applicants must demonstrate:

Professional Potential

  • > How the study undertaken meets the professional development aims of the student
  • > How the study undertaken will impact on artform development on a local, regional and / or national level
  • > Established commitment to a research-based approach to moving, making and /or teaching

Financial Need

  • > Personal circumstances which make the bursary indispensable for joining the programme
  • > How the financial support will meet, or contribute to meeting, those needs

DEADLINE EXTENDED: The new deadline for bursary applications for 2020/21 is Monday 22 June 2020, 5pm.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order to be eligible for the bursary, you have to have been accepted onto the course. To ensure your bursary application can be considered, please make sure that you have applied to, and been accepted onto, the MA/MFA Creative Practice: Dance Professional Practice Pathway.
