ID’s programme of international intensives fosters an approach to professional development which focuses on increasing depth of knowledge. Dance artists, both as facilitators and participants, are able to refine and review their knowledge – interrogating what they already know as well as seeking to broaden their palette through exploration of new ideas and approaches.
The aim to our activities programme is to create a ‘laboratory’ environment with approaches to teaching and learning which stress the sharing of practice over the imparting of skills. ID aims to provide a supportive environment for this process and a focal point for coherent in-depth movement research.
The Independent Dance programme is open to artists of diverse physicalities and sensory modalities, allowing everyone to engage at their chosen level of energy, pace and scale of movement.
