Teachers
The dance artists who form part of the regular pool of teachers within Independent Dance are highly respected and active UK based practitioners who continue to expand their contribution to both the sector and the form through ongoing questioning and exploration within their own teaching, performing and artistic practice. Many work internationally on a regular basis. Our internationally renowned guest teachers are often leading exponents in their field of movement, and as such, bring years of experience and knowledge into the studio to share with UK and visiting artists.
The majority of our teachers are trained in, or their work informed by, alternative bodywork or movement approaches, offering a unique assimilation of their own dance experience and a range of diverse practices and philosophies. This supports our desire to not provide 'didactic' or codified techniques within the training, but to offer approaches based in the first person experience of the body, enabling each individual to use the information to support their own learning.
