Research Weeks
About Research Weeks
ID has long wished to further support our 'teaching artists' through opportunities to explore their teaching practice more deeply within a safe yet fertile and 'actual' situation. As part of that commitment teachers can propose to ID areas they may wish to research, or even starting points of research, within formats they feel would best suit that explorative time.
We have therefore begun a new initiative entitled Research Weeks that will replace the morning classes in the Rooftop studio, and take place in the more intimate setting of the Research studio.
These weeks aim to support teaching artists to investigate their practice and how they share it with others, and provide an opportunity for them to explore and experiment with a small group of participants on a more informal basis than our regular open classes.
Individual classes can be taken, and cost only £3 per class, but priority will be given to those who can attend all week. There are a maximum of 12 participants, and places must be booked in advance.
We feel that these weeks will not only feed the teachers and the development of their practice, (so ultimately feeding the ID programme and dance sector in general), but can also be a wonderful opportunity for fellow dance artists to be an active and contributing part of that research.
As a participant and artist alongside the teacher and a small group of peers we hope these opportunities will stimulate your development within an environment of questioning, curiosity and debate – and challenge, answer and refine your questions.
