Description:

Winlab Festival 2011
A Thousand and One Stories of Breath | 12-16 December, 11am-5pm
Eva Karczag and Miranda Tufnell

This workshop is a time to be curious and to explore the many stories that arise through our body and breath. Breath signals our arrival and birth into the world. As such it constantly returns us to our beginnings, to our uniquely personal processes of forming, our often quixotic shifts of rhythms, attention and  inspiration. Moment by moment our bodies are moved by the changing patterns of breath  -  a returning to our origins alternating with opening outwards and onwards into the world about us.

Constellations of stories emerge and become visible as we find  the presence of breath ever deeper within us. We will explore a thousand ways of entering into the landscapes and stories of breath, to open, enrich, and surprise our dancing.

'In British Romantic poetry the Arabian Nights stood for the wonderful against the mundane, the imaginative against the prosaically and reductively rational.' A. S. Byatt

Description:

Informal Performance
Wednesday 14 Dec, 7pm

SLAPPING LEGS AND STEPPING OUT - Gaby Agis and Eva Karczag. A relationship of discovery using a simple score to anchor free play and support the unfolding of stories that pass through.

Promenade - devised and performed by Chris Crickmay, Sylvia Hallett and Eva Karczag. The basic framework for Promenade is one of a continually evolving improvised performance in sound, movement and installation, set in motion within the terms of an established working process. The performers deliberately place themselves on a precarious edge of unpredictability in order to find something that feels alive and pertinent to the present.
