The Choir Project

Choreographer Jonathan Burrows and composer Matteo Fargion lead a project to create a performance in 5 days, for a choir of 20 dancers. The group will work intensively on a series of scores  for movement, words and music, looking at composition and performance, and asking always how a dance might be made and what it could communicate to somebody watching. The resulting event will be presented on the final day.

This workshop is open to anybody interested and participants will be selected through an application process. Please send a short expression of interest as to why you would like to participate in this project and a short biog to fiona@independentdance.co.uk. Deadline for applications is 21 October 2011.

Lyndsey’s class focuses on an energised and dynamic use of the body. The Friday sessions at ID will allow participants, following on from a led warm up, the opportunity to work on one lengthy movement sequence that will encompass complex co-ordination together with an emphasis on complete embodiment of dynamic range. Through practice, coaching and dialogue we will cultivate and foster a strong understanding and awareness of one's own moving, acquiring clear articulation and presence in motion.

These choreographic feedback studio sessions are an opportunity for professional choreographers to show work at any stage in its process, in order to get appropriate feedback to help in the process of developing the work.
