7:00pm [7:00pm-9:00pm] Stranger than Fiction
Description:

Stranger than Fiction is a regular platform celebrating the art of movement-based improvisation in performance.

It aims to present a diversity of movement-based approaches to the art of improvisation in performance, alongside other complementary performance practices, as a resource for the various improvising communities in London and beyond. StF aims to provide a simple, accessible and well-organised event with a relaxed, informal atmosphere that supports the taking of artistic risks in performance.

StF is produced with the support of Independent Dance, and takes place at Siobhan Davies Studios on the last Saturday of most months.

£7 drop-in (cash only), including refreshments

SOFT
Performers: Robert Anderson, Kathy Crick & David Leahy
Contact improvisation in performance with live music; dancers inspiring music and music inspiring dances.

The Surprise Experiment
Performers: Hannah Marshall & Guest

This is Hamlet
Performer: Rebecca Mackenzie (from StF Collective)
I will read Hamlet's soliloquies each day for ten days before the performance. I will then enter the performance space with nothing and see what images, rhythms and gestures emerge. The work is an experiment in reading and exploring the imprint that words leave on our imaginations. It is my hope that the process of performing will, rather like Hamlet's own journey, be a moving beyond the cerebral of 'words, words, words' and into action.

Once and Never Again
Performers: David Leahy (Double Bass), Hannah Marhsall (Cello) & Tobias Sturmer (Percussion)
A musical trio that will meet for the first time at Stranger than Fiction will perform improvised music; an interactive movement score may. ..or may not... emerge.
