WinLab 2017 | 16 - 17 December, 11am - 5pm | Autobiology
Autobiology focuses on the generation of autobiographical material by exploring the connections between the body and the mind, biology and biography. Participants will gather autobiological material, investigate stories of their bodies and explore ‘gut feelings’. They will work on individual and group exercises looking at ‘cellular and body memory’ and ‘information about the body invisible to the naked eye’ from which they will create text, gesture, performance and installation. The exercises will range from working methods developed over the years by Curious, including autobiographical writing prompts, body memory exercises, yin yoga, and body mapping.
Curious (joint artistic directors Leslie Hill and Helen Paris) has produced over 50 innovative works for theatre, festivals and landscapes since 1997. It is managed and produced by Artsadmin, London. Hill and Paris’s books include Performing Proximity and Performance and Place, both published by Palgrave Macmillan. Paris is artist in residence at Canterbury Christ Church University.
